For The Most Part...

For the most part, it's been a lovely few weeks.. I went to the theater once again to see Camelot starring Lou Diamond Phillips.. Truth be told, that was the most disappointing show I've seen so far.. You'd think that, since the show has been around since the 60's, it would be a great show.. NO!! I was bored half way through the first act and had a hard time staying awake through the entire show.. Still, I donated $15 to BROADWAY CARES/EQUITY FIGHTS AIDS, and got a signed large postcard to add to my slowly growing collection of memorabilia of the shows I've seen..

The following day, I took the day off work to catch my current favorite, Nellie McKay, in concert.. Whether she's singing a funny song about a flower (Happy Flower), promoting pet adoption (The Dog Song), or bringing attention to the atrocious animal experiments at Columbia University (Columbia is Bleeding), her wit and talent amazes me..

CAT arrived and got all settled in.. Things are going very well. The weekend before last we decided to get the most of the last warm days and tried some fishing.. No luck (most certainly because neither of us really know how to fish up here. it's not simple worm on a hook like it is in AZ), but we did have a great time out in the beautiful NW..

The mailman brought me a very special envelope.. In it was tickets to the show I'm most looking forward to, even if (due to this being an add on show and not part of the "season" package) they're not for my regular seats.. Still, they're one "box" over and in the front of the box..... Only 9 months 23 days to go!!!

Last weekend CAT and I decided to catch a movie.. I'm NOT a movie person, but I was so very glad to find that he wanted to see the only movie I had any interest in seeing.. The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D!! I saw it in the theater when it first came out, I own the DVD, I know almost the entire thing by heart, but seeing it in 3D at one of only 5 theaters in the world with the new Sony 3D system was AWESOME..

Cinetopia.. Seriously, that's what the theater is called.. And Cinetopia is exactly what it is!! Wide leather seats, super HD viewing, a popcorn topping bar (that overwhelmed me and so much that I ended up making a bad choice with a garlic butter / sour cream and chive combo), museum quality art hanging in the lobby instead of movie promotions,

an insanely fabulous 4 star restaurant more likely to be found in a Hilton than IN the movie theater lobby (100+ bottles in a wine tasting room, a guy playing a grand piano, etc), where we had grilled artichoke and brochette while waiting for our movie to start...

Someday soon we'll have to go back and see a "grown-up" movie in one of the Living Room Theaters, where the seats even have foot rests and the waiters bring you food and drink..

As I said, it's been a good couple weeks... Damn good, really... For the most part... So, what's keeping that it from being perfect?? Well....

Like like a gray cloud in the sky that you just know is about to come and rain on your otherwise lovely day, tomorrow has been looming on the horizon.. Last week I took Alex to the vet for her 6 month check-up (sad that my "kid" has better health insurance than millions of kids in this country, but don't get me off on a tangent..).. Anway, when I took her in earlier this year, her liver levels were slightly elevated, but now they're over a hundred points above normal (normal being like 225).. Tomorrow I have to take her back in for more thorough tests.. The vet tech assured me that her dog has a liver disorder and is fine with meds and Alex doesn't act like she's sick, but the whole thing has me super worried.. She's not allowed to get sick.. Doesn't she know that??

But for today things are good.. And it's 73 and sunny outside!! So I better get off here and enjoy the last warm day of the year..

Besides, I think my favorite kid would like to go to the park......
