14 Minutes to Spare

12:04 AM, munchie fueled ramblings....

I was sitting on the couch flipping channels, watching both Mad TV and SNL when I got the craving for something.. Don't you just hate that??? Remembering that I didn't have any veggies with my lunch today, I knew that's what I needed.

Being as there is currently NO veggies in my house (No excuse for this since I have an entire freezer in my basement that should be stocked with food), I hop in the auto and, still in my pj's, drive to the store.. Into my basket I put two bags of organic frozen broccoli, just the thing that would quell my munchies.. But as I walked through the frozen food isle, I couldn't help myself.... Sometimes I just have to get a bag of fish sticks! Not fish fillets, mind you, but those minced up, not really fish sticks like they used to serve at school!!

And in 14 minutes they will be done. Nice and crisp.. And I will be back on the couch, minus the munchies...

So, I ask you.. What is that less than good for you, irrational thing that you sometimes just have to buy (even if it's in the middle of the night when no one can see you)????

(And yes, the broccoli is in the microwave)

I don't know how irrational it is, but I often, after tucking all my littles into bed, sneak the biggest bowl of cereal I can find. My favorite being cookie crisp or golden grahms, followed by a chaser of coca-cola, because whats bedtime with out caffien. The only other thing I've been known to eat late at night, is if we have sweet and sour for dinner I can't help but eat the leftovers later in the evening. And icecream, but who doesn't eat icecream at night.

TLC's comment.. (for some reason she couldn't post it from her end)

You know what gets me? Toaster Strudels - cherry flavored. I WANT them every time I pass them. I don't usually give in because I know the kids will eat them up and I'll feel bad that I brought them in the house. You know what I do? I wait for Clint to bring them in the house and then I secretly jump for joy! He brings in about 3 different flavors at a time, so I am sure that we all get our own and some. I almost broke down and bought some pop tarts (from Trader joes, better for you, right?) but again, I didn't want to be the culprit for bringing in unhealthy foods like that. Clint is the one for that. We always have some kind of sugar laden cereal or ice cream that is his doing. I'm the smoothie or the granola girl. I will add bits of dark chocolate to my omega trek mix (trader joe brand) for sweetness.

Hmmmm...I can totally go for a bowl of cereal late at night, too!One that I do not have to share. I havent tried toaster struedel, but I love the apple and cherry poptarts, if I buy them I have to buy Will the s'more kind. (Perfect camping food, in my opinion.)
I think the most unhealthy food I eat and crave is hashbrowns(usually use frozen, but fresh is best) but they have to have sauteed onions and TONS of cheese on them. Or I like to go to Denny's (like when I need to study) and eat french fries with cheese on them dipped in a half ranch half ketchup mix. Its been my favorite junk food since I was 19.
I prefer salty to sweet, and honestly could usually leave ice cream over a bag of movie theater butter poporn.
And now my tummy is rumbling and I need to eat... I wonder if I have any frozen hashbrowns? mmmmm
